Who we are
FOIA Department is an internal tool of the Black Box documentary studio. It is used only by our own team with our own Google account.
What data the tool accesses
- Gmail (gmail.modify): messages in our own mailbox that relate to public records requests: the requests we send and the replies we receive from government agencies.
- Google Drive (drive.file): only the files and folders that the tool itself creates, where it stores records released to us by agencies.
How the data is used
The data is used only to send our requests, read and sort the agencies' replies, remind agencies about pending requests, and keep the released records organized. It is not used for advertising or profiling.
Sharing
We do not sell, rent or share Google user data with third parties. Message text may be processed by an AI model only to summarize replies for our team and to draft our own replies.
Limited Use
FOIA Department's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Storage and deletion
Data is kept on our own server and in our own Google Drive. Access can be revoked at any time in Google Account settings under "Third-party apps with account access", after which the tool can no longer read or send mail.
